Interdisciplinary Study of Reflectance-Transformation Imaging Processes for Creation of Normal Map Libraries From High-Resolution Scan Data

This talk discusses an interdisciplinary, collaborative project among students of photography and students of 3D digital design at the Rochester Institute of Technology, which implemented a homemade, functioning reflectance-transformation imaging device for high-resolution scanning of physical materials to produce CG normal maps and textures.

3D Across Media: Ceramics, Print, and VR

The 3D immersion workshop at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo was designed across three different media so that students can experience form with their digitized hands and as a virtual environment. Faculty in ceramics, printmaking, and virtual reality worked together to prepare the assignments. Students explored materials in real and virtual spaces.

Is This Possible? Massive Online Inter-Institutional Student Production

The Massive Collaborative Animation Project is a collaborative effort to provide a large production experience for students, including those in academic programs with smaller student body and resources. The goal is to provide an online platform for schools to work together and enrich these students’ educational experiences.
