PackIT. Animating Complicated Character Groups Easily

PackIT is an artist-focused approach to efficiently managing large numbers of characters. The approach is an improvement compared to other methods, which often rely on simulation or group behaviors. PackIT is artist friendly and pipeline friendly, because it gives animators control.

Artist-Driven Crowd Authoring Tools

Crowd-simulation frameworks, while powerful, can be unwieldy due to their chaotic nature. Artist-driven tools allow much more flexibility when constructing scenes. For this reason, Double Negative recently transitioned from an in-house stand-alone simulation-based solution to a set of artist-driven tools integrated into Houdini.
