This talk presents a new contour method for highly detailed geometry, such as commonly found in organic shapes. The method employs sub-pixel-level sub-sampling and generates aesthetic and flicker-free contours with a high level of detail, resulting in images that have an almost hand-drawn quality.

In "Smurfs: The Lost Village", the enchanted forest has millions of exotic plants of hundreds of different species that can emit light when in the shade. The animation crew revisited the way in which Katana creates lights to scale to huge light counts without compromising on the ability to fine tune the lighting.
