CAD is the world’s preeminent source of parametric data, but harnessing this data is challenging because CAD requires long regeneration times, and resulting meshes have different combinatorics. Using a precomputation-based method and novel interpolation techniques, this work develops tools that allows designers to interactively explore and optimize CAD shapes.

This paper introduces a lightweight structure-optimization algorithm for problems with force-location uncertainty. Given an input 3D model, regions on its boundary where normal forces may make contact, and a total force-magnitude budget, the algorithm generates a lightweight 3D structure that withstands any force configuration capped by the budget.

This study of the design and optimization of statically sound and materially efficient space structures constructed by connected beams proposes a systematic computational framework for space-structure design that incorporates static soundness, approximation of reference surfaces, boundary alignment, and geometric regularity.
