Recapturing Our Past: Archiving SIGGRAPH's History

This session focuses on a number of initiatives that aim to preserve artifacts, stories, and other resources from past SIGGRAPH conferences. Mary Whitton, Chair of the SIGGRAPH History Committee, talks about “SIGGRAPH Stories and Stuff” and the approaching SIGGRAPH anniversary. Terrence Masson, Chair of the Outstanding Service Award Committee, presents “People Behind the Pixels”. And Bonnie Mitchell and Jan Searleman, Co-Chairs of the Digital Arts Community History Subcommittee, address the current state of the SIGGRAPH Art Show Archives and discuss future developments. Attendees are encouraged to provide feedback and get involved.

Special Session of the ACM SIGGRAPH Digital Arts Community: Immersive Expressions: Virtual Reality on the Web

Tuesday, 1 August, 11:00 am - 12:30 pm, Los Angeles Convention Center - Los Angeles Convention Center - ACM SIGGRAPH Theater, South Lobby

The ACM SIGGRAPH Digital Arts Community presents Immersive Expressions, an online WebVR exhibition that explores the browser as a medium for work at the intersection of creative expression and virtual reality. Selected works include those that push conceptual or technological boundaries, including interactive experiments, games, animation, 360-degree video experiences, and other hybrid approaches. Some works are more abstract and conceptual, and others were created by creative technologists with a unique approach to virtual reality. The session showcases indie developers, artists, designers, computer scientists, filmmakers, and companies working at the forefront of web-based VR.
